Donegal County Council established the Earagail Arts Festival in 1989 as a primary annual focus for arts activities in the county. The Festival was incorporated as a limited company in 2004 and the event is now managed and administered on behalf of Donegal County Council by Earagail Arts Festival Management Company Limited.
Donegal County Council continues to support the Festival with an annual revenue grant. The Festival also receives annual support from The Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaion, Fáilte Ireland and Ealaín na Gaeltachta. The Festival has also received support in recent years from The British Council, Creative Scotland, the Office of Public Works and RTÉ.
